Day 1 - Take a selfie summing up your mid-semester mood, and check out the amazing outfits from the Met Gala (then re-post your favourite look) Day 2 - Take a photo in your street and write a one-line mood description Day 3 - Create a drawing or artwork with ‘B-Friend’ somewhere in it Day 4 - Create an abstract photo with ‘B-Friend’ hidden in it Day 5 - Find a pre-Covid photo you love and write a paragraph about memories to go with it Day 6 - Check out the art at NGV online. Try to sketch or copy an artwork. Or check out the Met Gala clothes, share your fave. Day 7 - Create a beautiful black-and-white photo Day 8 - Try baking a cake with ‘B-Friend’ written on it, or just try simple baking! Now CONGRATULATE YOURSELF!
CHALLENGE #2: CONNECT
Day 1 - Reach out to someone from a while ago (school pal, cousin, neighbour) – say ‘Hi’ even though time has passed. Ask how they are! Day 2 - Start or contribute to a positive online conversation – via Reddit, Melbourne Uni Love Letters, or an upbeat blog like ABC Melbourne Day 3 - Tell someone you know how much they’re appreciated. Dad, grandma, tutor, housemate, musician/artist or crowd-funding charity – put it into words! Day 4 - Ask a neighbour or classmate if they need help - check in and offer a small favour (eg buying milk, walking a dog, sharing tutorial prep-reading). Helping makes us feel better! Day 5 - Try a simple mindfulness session for today, or several days: it’s as simple as sitting still, eyes shut, and listening to all the sounds around. So easy, but it’s great for the mind and body! Day 6 - Write a letter to your future self – list all your talents/skills; tell them all your hopes and plans for the next 5 years, or ten. Day 7 - Join a uni club or fun online discussion group. Day 8 - Sign up to volunteer – anywhere! It’s usually easy and makes great use your skills. Helping others makes us feel good! CONGRATULATE YOURSELF! KEEP UP THE CONNECTIONS.
CHALLENGE #3: FOOD/HEALTH
Day 1 - Find a new recipe with at least 3 vegetables in it. Take a photo, r ate it out of 5. Day 2 - Get outdoors for 30 minutes’ running/power walking. Take a friend. Day 3 - Find a recipe and cook a dish, calculate the cost per serving (must include at least 2 vegetables for health!) Day 4 - Do 40 sit-ups, 10 lunges, 20 pushups and some arm stretches, then make a diary note to do it again! Day 5 - Seek out the recipe for an old favourite (Ask your grandma to share her secrets – then show her the results!) Day 6 - Mindfulness: it’s as simple as sitting still, eyes shut, and listening to all the sounds around. So easy, but it’s great for the mind and body! Day 7 - Find a new recipe for something freezable, make double/triple, so that 2-3 future dinners are sorted (or swap with a friend to vary meals). Or make a colourful cake, write B-Friend on it! Day 8 - Find an online fitness video with at least 20 minutes’ cardio.
